It discusses every camera setting on this high-quality and very complex camera in a clear, well-illustrated style, with many integrated tips and QuickSteps, but it also does much more. You’ll find that this guide helps you quickly master your camera so you ll be getting the kinds of photos you hope for.

The book is printed in black & white and has a well-liked spiral binding that lets the book lie flat or be folded back. The accompanying eBook on a CD disc is a printable and searchable full-color version of the same book in Adobe’s popular PDF format. It can be printed out in whole or part and read on a PC or Mac using the free Acrobat Reader or any current Web browser. (To use these animations you do need an Internet connection.)

Chapter 2 Controlling Exposure explains how to use all of the camera s exposure modes and exposure controls to get photos that show the scene exactly as it is, or as you want to interpret it. Learn how to display and evaluate histograms and use the high quality RAW image format.

Chapter 3 Controlling Sharpness discusses how to control sharpness in your photographs and how to creatively use focus, depth-of-field, sharpness, softness, and blur creatively.

Chapter 4 Capturing Light & Color introduces light and color and how to use them creatively. Understand how they change throughout the day and seasons, how they re affected by the weather, and how light s direction and quality affects highlights and shadows. See how to set your camera s white balance to capture colors the way you see them.

Chapter 5 Understanding Lenses explains how to use your lenses and lens accessories creatively when photographing scenery, interiors, and people. See how wide-angle, normal, telephoto, and close-up lenses affect your images.

Chapter 6 Using Flash and Studio Lighting discusses how to creatively use your camera s built-in or external flash, indoors and out, and in good light and bad. Explore special techniques such as fill and slow sync flash. Learn about controlling flash exposures using flash lock and flash compensation. Learn how to use tabletop and studio lighting to get great product shots and portraits with simple setups.

Chapter 7. Other Features and Commands explains how to use live view and picture controls; retouch images; use active d-lighting; create multiple exposures; use the interval timer; bracket exposure, flash, and white balance; use My Menu and the setup, custom settings and playback menus. Finally learn about caring for your camera and cleaning its image sensor.

1 Star A Short Course in Nikon D300
The book was damaged when it arrived, reured the book and was refunded my money.

5 Stars Very Good Course
I found that this course book was excellent for helping me learn not only about how to use my Nikon D300 but also good at covering basic photography information as well. This is not just another course on what the D300 features are but also how and when to use those features. I felt that the writing style was very clear (not too technical) and did specially well at explaining more complicated subjects like exposure, histograms, lighting (white balance) and flash.

The illustrations were well done and clear to show parts of the camera and complicated topics as well.

Having the book in PDF format with hyperlinks was also a hugh plus. I was able to read the course on a plane during long flights without having to carry the bound version with me on the plane (I had to carry my laptop on with me anyway).

3 Stars Short Course vs Nikon users manual?
This useful course is designed to assist relatively new users of Nikon DSLRS of this calibre (pro level).

It almost succeeeds. On the positive side it sets out each section clearly and concisely and is backed up by the Ebook disc with animated practical exercises.

The negatives? – The book tends to gloss over some operational areas with the D300 or offers only scant reference to them.

It is not a high quality production for the price charged (not much better than a photocopied edition) and could have been so much better with the addition of colour. (you can produce a colour edition yourself by printing from the disc provided).

Overall though, the book works quite well and certainly demystifies some of the confusing data written in Nikon’s D300 users manual

1 Star A Short Course in Nikon D300 Photography
This is a “cookie cutter” copy of the book I purchased for my Nikon D80. All the author did was update the information from one camera to the other. Very dissapointing, not to mention overpriced. The features of the D300 were not covered very throughly and a lot were left out completely. A much, much better book is David Busch’s “Nikon D300 Guide to Digital SLR Photography” and is also less expensive.

1 Star poor
complicated. The Cd does not work. Quality is so poor that it peels off within your computer creating problems to retreive the debrie

Accounting Chapter 1 23 and MyAccountingLab with Full EBook Student Access Card 8th Edition

For Principle of Accounting Courses

Students understand (or “get it”) right after you do a problem in class. However, as soon as they leave class, their ability to do the problems and complete their homework diminishes with each passing hour. Often times this results in students struggling to complete their homework on their own. Even worse, the frustration can lead to students quitting on the material altogether and falling behind in the course. As a result, an entire class can fall behind as instructors attempt to keep everyone on the same page.

With the Accounting 8e Student Learning System, all features of the student textbook, study resources and online homework system are designed to work together to provide students with more “I Get It!” moments. The consistency, repetition and strong details throughout the entire student learning system allow students to achieve success both inside and outside the classroom while keeping both instructors and students on track.

How Humans Evolved e book

How Humans Evolved e book

Robert Boyd and Joan B. Silk bring their respective specialties to the groundbreaking Fourth Edition of How Humans Evolved. Using the broad perspective of behavioral ecology—how human behavior has been influenced by the evolutionary process—the authors offer a balanced discussion, drawing on updated coverage of the human fossil record. The well-structured pedagogical framework of the text, with its emphasis on overarching ideas, makes the material accessible to introductory students. .

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Excellent Overview Of Human Evolution
Boyd & Silk do an excellent job of covering the broad expanse of human evolution. The examples, explanations, illustrations and periodic anecdotes are very well-organized and cogent. I especially enjoyed the coverage of opposing points of view and the pros/cons for each.

The one thing I was in disagreement over though was their inclusion of Koko as an example of how gorillas can be taught human language skills (in this case American Sign Language). It’s been observed that at least some of what Koko appeared to be communicating via signing was the result of unconscious nonverbal prompting on the part of Francine Patterson, hence why many linguists are skeptical of using Koko as an example of animal use of ASL.

Besides that (which the authors may just simply have not known about) the book is INCREDIBLY well-researched and honest in it’s examination of modern-day evolutionary theory. Highly recommended for anyone interested in evolution, biology or anthropology.

1 Star Horrible
The book did not arrive in one piece. The cover was not attached to the book and the spine is falling apart. The book fell into several pieces as soon as I picked it up. This is not how the item was described and I am completely unsatisfied with my purchase.

5 Stars Now in its fifth edition
This fascinating book is now in its fifth edition since late 2008. But somehow in the page for the fourth edition Amazon did not show this in “Other Edition”. And judged from the current sales rank in May 2009, 4th edition sells much more than the 5th edition. I have not done a comparison between the two editions but you may want to check out the new edition with this link: How Humans Evolved: (Fifth Edition)

5 Stars Great Product :)
Received book on time, great condition and included everything for a great price. One of the first books that looked as it was described online.

4 Stars Decent Textbook
In the introductory college course in physical anthropology that my professor used this text in, the focus was largely on his lecture and not on reading the text. That being said, from the times that I used the text, I saw that it was well-written and made use of charts, graphs, etc. to give context to its explanations. Overall it was a very good textbook, but I only gave it 4/5 stars because it could be “wordy” at times (it took two pages to explain what could have been explained in two paragraphs). Other than that, a good purchase, seeing as I HAD to buy it for the course.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Little Brown Handbook
This book has everything I need to know and more concerning writing styles (APA, MLA and etc.), syntax, punctuation, composition and more. Great reference book when writing anything.

5 Stars good condition!
although, it wasn’t as fast as i wanted to be shipped to me, it was in very good condition! i would definitely trust the seller!

4 Stars the Little Brown Book
Everything was perfect it was exactly what i expected. i use this book for school so it is required reading but it is very helpful and informative with plenty of examples

1 Star I
I orderd “The Little, Brown Handbook 10th Edition” on Aug 4, 2009 but still I don’t have it. Today is on Sep 8, 2009. My class started on Aug 25, 2009 and still I don’t have book yet. I’m very upset this sender.

3 Stars Grammar or English?
It’s difficult to write a review on a textbook without accidentally reviewing your class as well. We barely used this book, and class is almost over.

I don’t understand why a book called brown is actually blue, but ok. I loved the price here at Amazon for this book, Amazon’s NEW price was only $5 higher than buying it used at any of my local used book stores.

The size (dimensions) of the book is convenient. Not too big to haul around all the time, but the print is small and I think with all the textbooks we have to put up with all the time, our eyes start bugging out. Do they really need to cram all the material in such a small space? I appreciate the lighter load, but upping the font one point can make a world of difference. All in all, the book is sturdy, and it’s laid out fairly well, making it not too difficult to find what you are looking for, so that is a plus. The paper is slightly slick, without too much glare, for anyone who ever studies outside between classes, you will appreciate this.

The kinds of questions the book has are really stupid, and with no way to evaluate your own work, you have no clue before you turn in your assignment if you are on the right track or not. I consider that a huge minus. Another huge negative if your teacher is like mine and gives all the assignments and doesn’t grade them or even look at them until the end of the term.

I do not think I am really qualified to evaluate the contents of the book, regarding grammar, english rules, etc, since that lack of knowledge is why I am taking the class in the first place, however, it seems to cover a huge range of rules that I never learned before and I will not be reselling it to the used book store. I will keep it as a reference tool for all the classes and reports I will have to do over the next three years.
